The Registrar of Newspapers for India (RNI) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. It was created under the Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867 (PRB Act).

Title Verification:

Apply online through the RNI portal: https://rni.nic.in/

Select a unique title for your newspaper and apply for verification.

The title is verified for uniqueness and location-based availability.

Declaration:

After title approval, the publisher needs to file a declaration (Form-I) before a Magistrate under the PRB Act.

First Issue Publication:

The first issue of the newspaper must be published within 42 days (for daily/weekly) or 90 days (for other periodicities) from the date of declaration.
